Yes, karate is safe - we have fewer injuries than many other sports and activities (such as baseball, hockey, or dance). Martial arts training, although there is punching and kicking, focuses on the personal development of the student. Just like in any sport or activity there are risks, which is why we have safety measures in place and the expectation that students will adhere to our dojo rules.
Of course! We have many adults and parents who take karate classes. Karate is unique because it is one of the few sports where the WHOLE family can train at the same time.
Karate is a great cross-training sport. It helps with balance, coordination, focus, and can aid in the development of self-discipline.
We think everyone can benefit from the structure and activity karate brings, even if it's short term! Plus, you never know - you may have a future black belt on your hands.
You can do karate online through our private lesson program! If you're not currently comfortable coming into the dojo for group classes we have a fellow martial artist who is teaching online that we can recommend.
In cases of inclement weather, we will be shifting our classes to Zoom to maintain continuity. For safety and security we aren't posting the class links, but are emailing them to students, along with the class password.
Yes! We will be running belt promotions while training online, so you don’t need to worry about missing out on learning new material.
*If you're a new student and don't have a uniform yet, wear gym clothes that you can move comfortably in.
